Mexican by birth, Italian+American+Peruvian by marriage and  Indian by name, Indira feels like a true “citizen of the world”.

While studying a Master degree at the London School of Economics, she bought by coincidence BKS Iyengar’s book Light on YogaRight afterwards, in 1996 she took her first yoga class.

Donna Holleman was her first teacher and she trained under her guidance for several years.  Then after deciding on a carrer change, she completed a three years' Iyengar Yoga Teacher Training Diploma with the Herta Rogg Foundation in Mexico City (www.fundacionhertarogg.com.mx).

In Mexico, her efforts led to the establishment of assessment exams. With Guruji's seal of approval, Mexico became officially the first country in Latin America to certify Iyengar yoga teachers.  She is part of that first group of Mexican certified Iyengar yoga teachers.

In an attempt to share with other the benefits of yoga, she gave birth to her own yoga studio Yoga del Sur (www.yogadelsur.com.mx), in the south of Mexico City.

She feels very grateful for having studied with the Iyengar family in Pune.

She has practiced and studied yoga for 12 years, and started teaching in Mexico in  2001.

A member of the Iyengar Yoga Association (UK) (www.iyengaryoga.org.uk), she has a full teaching insurance and currently teaches in London
